Medical Neuroscience 606
The Medical Neuroscience course has pioneered the concept of systems-based teaching at the Medical University of South Carolina. This 7-credit course integrates neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, as well as relevant elements of cell biology and genetics, with clinical application. Time in brain dissection lab is balanced with time learning essentials of neurologic examination. The morning lecture series is complemented by afternoon small group sessions focusing on specific patient cases. Both clinicians and neuroscientists participate in teaching the 2009 course, which is directed by David Griesemer, MD.
