OVERVIEW
Trigeminal neuralgia (a.k.a. tic douleroux) is a condition that
produces pain in the distribution of the trigeminal nerve. The
trigeminal, or 5th cranial nerve provides sensation to the structures
of the head and face including the skin, teeth, tongue, and the
mucous membranes that line the mouth and nose. Trigeminal neuralgia
(TN) affects persons of all ages although the incidence increases
with age. The condition is slightly more common in women.
