DURING SURGERY

Actual surgical time varies according to the patient and the procedure,
but it sometimes seems extremely long for waiting family members.
They should remember that you will not actually be in the operating
room the entire time. Time is spent before and after the procedure
getting patients and equipment ready. Extra time and effort is
taken to ensure things run smoothly.
If the operation is taking longer than expected, someone will
try to contact your family. Remember, however, that we are concentrating
on the surgery and cannot be distracted. A long operation does
not mean that something is wrong. Your family's involvement is
very important and is included in all aspects of your care.
