FACILITIES
The 596-bed Medical Center is made up of four hospitals -- Medical
University Hospital, MUSC Children’s Hospital, Storm Eye Institute
and the Institute of Psychiatry. It also includes centers for
specialized care – the Heart Center, Transplant Center, Digestive
Disease Center and Hollings Cancer Center. These centers are led
by internationally known physicians. MUSC is the designated Level
I Trauma Center in Charleston. This is the highest level designated
by the American College of Surgeons. There are many outpatient
clinics, facilities and services, both on the MUSC campus and
throughout the community. Discoveries from MUSC’s research facilities
enhance the diagnosis and treatment of Medical Center patients.
