DISCHARGE AND FOLLOW-UP

Checkout time usually is 11 a.m. You'll be escorted out of the hospital in a wheelchair. You'll need to have someone drive you home.

Nursing support staff are available to help with any special discharge needs you may have, such as home health care or rehabilitation placement.

Your follow-up appointment will be determined by your attending physician, and will be scheduled for you by hospital staff before you leave.

If you have difficulty contacting your neurosurgeon, a neurosurgery resident is available 24 hours a day for question, concerns or emergencies. Call the MUSC paging operator at 792-2123, and ask for the resident on call.

For more information about the services of the MUSC Medical Center, to schedule an appointment, or to get information about your inpatient stay such as directions and parking, call MUSC Health Connection at (843) 792-1414 or 1-800-424-MUSC. The line is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Resource representatives are available to speak with you, or you may use the line's automated health information library. All you need is a touch-tone phone.
