ADULT SPASTICITY CLINIC
The Adult Spasticity Clinic provides multidisciplinary care
for adult patients who suffer spasticity
from a variety of underlying causes including spinal cord injury,
multiple sclerosis, cerebral
palsy, head injury, and stroke.
Representatives from Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation,
Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, and Orthotics are available at a
single site to provide input into the management of all aspects
of spasticity. Treatment with oral antispasticity drugs, orthotics
(braces), physical
therapy, botulinum
injections, baclofen
infusion pumps, and dorsal
rhizotomy are all available through the clinic. Special
emphasis is placed on the management of spasticity with intrathecal
baclofen using a programmable drug pump and the clinic has considerable
experience in this form of therapy.
The Adult Spasticity Clinic is customarily held on the fourth
Tuesday of each month from 1 - 4:30 PM. New patient referrals
can be made by calling 843-792-7700.
