He has broad experience in Gamma-knife and LINAC radiosurgery, frameless neuronavigation systems and the surgical treatment of movement and pain disorders. While doing his fellowship in stereotactic and functional surgery at the University of Arizona, Dr. Takacs built one of the top five programs in the country for the implantation of stimulators for the treatment of movement disorders.
Research Expertise
Dr. Takacs is providing research collaboration
for a current NIH Grant for functional imaging in patients with deep brain
stimulators and he collaborating with the Department of Neurology to develop
a Movement Disorders Program with a surgical component. In addition, he is
pursuing research collaborations with the Department of Physiology for the
treatment of disorders such as Parkinson's disease. His local teaching efforts
involve
both teaching residents (Neurological Surgery) and medical students.
