Janelle L. Wagner, Ph.D.


Dr. Wagner received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 2004. She completed an internship and postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2005, she was selected as an American Epilepsy Society Neurobehavioral Fellow.

Dr. Wagner is now an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Genetics and Developmental Pediatrics at MUSC. Her clinical activities include evidence-based psychosocial and behavioral assessment and intervention for children with epilepsy and other chronic illnesses. She participates in Adolescent Epilepsy Clinic. Dr. Wagner's research interests focus on models of psychosocial adjustment to pediatric epilepsy and development of a cognitive-behavioral intervention to enhance primary and secondary coping skills in youth with epilepsy and their parents. Her research activities have been funded by the national Epilepsy Foundation (EF) and Parents Against Childhood Epilepsy (PACE). She has also participated as a co-investigator on the federally funded South Carolina Health Outcomes Project in Epilepsy (SC HOPE) study. Dr. Wagner serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Epilepsy Foundation.
