Paul B. Pritchard, III, M.D.


Dr. Pritchard is a native of Augusta, Georgia and grew up in Ware Shoals, South Carolina. He earned an A.B. in chemistry at Duke University and an M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He served his internship in internal medicine and residency in neurology at the University of Virginia. Following residency, he was a fellow in clinical neurophysiology at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology.

He was appointed Instructor in Neurology at Harvard and has been at the Medical University of South Carolina since 1975, where he is Professor of Neurosciences and director of the neurology residency. He was the first recipient of the Humanism in Medicine Award at MUSC in 2000 and has been listed among Best Doctors in America since 1997. He served as Director of Continuing Medical Education for the American Epilepsy Society and as a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of America. He has been an ad hoc reviewer for Epilepsia, Neurology, Annals of Neurology, CNS Spectrums, Epilepsy and Behavior, and the American Journal of Medical Science.

Dr. Pritchard's professional interests center around the comprehensive care of patients with epilepsy. Research interests include endocrine disorders associated with epilepsy, the pathophysiology of nonepileptic seizures, and behavioral complications of epilepsy.
